Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa

  • Early morning pick up at the hotel.
  • Approximately 4 hours drive to Challacancha.
  • Stop in Mollepata for rest and possible breakfast.
  • Arrival to Challacancha and meeting with the support team.
  • Begin trekking to Soraypampa, walking approximately 7 km in 3 hours.
  • Lunch at Salkantay base camp.
  • Visit to the impressive Humantay Lagoon.
  • Return to the camp to rest and spend the night.
Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Soraypampa

Day 2: Salkantay Pass – Wayracpunku – Chaullay

  • Early wake up at 05:30 a.m. and quick breakfast.
  • Start trekking to Salkantay Pass (4650 meters above sea level).
  • Ascent of 7 km (4.34 miles) in 3 hours to the magnificent Salkantay mountain (6271 meters above sea level).
  • Descent of 5 km (3.1 miles) to Huayracmachay for lunch.
  • Entrance to the Amazon jungle or “cloud forest” with a 10 km (6.2 miles) hike in 3 hours.
  • Arrival to Chaullay Village (2900 meters above sea level) as a base camp in the jungle.
  • Continuation of the trek to Machu Picchu.
Day 2: Salkantay Pass – Wayracpunku – Chaullay

Day 3: Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba

  • Start of the hike at 06:00 a.m. to the village of La Playa.
  • Tour through the valley of Santa Teresa.
  • Observation of Colpapampa, known as the “front of the cloud forest”.
  • Appreciation of waterfalls, birds, hot springs, fruit trees and flora and fauna.
  • Abundant lunch at La Playa.
  • Hike of approximately 1 hour to Lucmabamba base camp (2400 masl – 7874 FASL).
Day 3: Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba

Day 4: Lucmabamba| Llactapata – Aguas Calientes

  • Early start of the hike to Llactapata Inca.
  • 2 hour climb with panoramic views of the Santa Teresa valley.
  • Visit to the ruins of Llactapata with direct view to Machu Picchu.
  • Continuation of the hike downhill for 2 hours.
  • Arrival at Hidroeléctrica train station for lunch.
  • Visit to Intiwatana, an ancient rock used as a sundial.
  • Arrival to the train tracks leading to Aguas Calientes.
Day 4: Lucmabamba| Llactapata – Aguas Calientes

Day 5: Machupicchu

  • Get up early to climb to the top of Machu Picchu.
  • Option to take a bus (additional cost) or walk to Machu Picchu.
  • Guided tour of 2 hours to explore temples, terraces, palaces and more.
  • Admire the engineering ingenuity of the Incas and their sustainable organization.
  • Option to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (with reserved ticket).
  • Option to walk to the Sun Gate or the Inca Bridge.
  • Free time to enjoy Machu Picchu for more than 7 hours.
